There are supposed to be music lovers who are not yet familiar with the French song repertoire. A whole range of treasures can be discovered here, such as the song cycle "La bonne chanson" Op. 61 after poems by Paul Verlaine. A work of Gabriel Fauré's mature period, in which word and music merge so perfectly with each other that no composer has ever surpassed this. Here you can hear the tonally distinctive version for voice, piano and string quintet. With Karine Deshayes and the Ensemble Contraste, interpreters have been found who succeed in conveying the magic of Fauré's music in a credible manner. His first piano quartet is an ideal complement to this.
