The intention of the Trio Guerra Amorosa is to create an original, inedited ensemble that performs music written in the second half of the 18th century, a period that witnessed the passage from the Baroque and Gallant styles to the Classical one. The Viola d’Amore and the Baryton together with the Bass Viola da Gamba give a unique and unheard tone-colour.

In addition to the trios of Haydn and Tomasini, the CD also offers two Sonatas taken from the vast original repertoire of sonatas for two for Viola d'Amore: the Sonatina La Paisanne, by the German composer W.F.Rust (1739-1796), violin virtuoso and pupil of F.Benda and C.P.E.Bach, and the Sonata in D major. for Viola d'Amore and Violone by L.Borghi (1745-1806), violinist and violist from Bologna but active in London and pupil of G.Pugnani. The Sonata is an adaptation of three different movements taken from the 6 Sonates pour violon et basse op.1, published in Paris in 1772.
