Entrusted to its choirmaster Claudio Monteverdi, this court ballet uses the theatricality of the "stile recitativo" to underline the poetry of the text. The unexpected death of the young singer who was to embody the Ingrate deeply affected the composer, who dedicated the Sestina to her, also recorded here. This disc was first released in 1983.
