With only one generic contribution, Mozart succeeded in leaving a lasting mark on our idea of a classical string trio. His Divertimento KV 563, written in 1788, is, despite its designation, hardly light music at all, but chamber music on a par with string quartets. The recording is completed by the Six Preludes and Fugues KV 404a, which documents Mozart's intensive creative exploration and compositional appropriation of the contrapuntal art of Johann Sebastian and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. The TrioFenix is composed of members of the Quatuor Danel, Oxalys and Beethoven Academie ensembles, which have come together to form an excellent ensemble.
