"L's Bop" is the best work of the "Very Special Concert" and immediately sets the route of the evening. Joe Henderson conjures up his saxophone, Chick Corea demonstrates his virtuoso skills on the piano, and Stanley Clarke and Lenny White demonstrate their multi-rhythmic talent on the double bass and drums. In the introduction of his composition "500 Miles High" Corea with typical classical "idioms" his musical origin. The resulting rhythmic, driving force lets White, Clark and Corea peak. A firework of ideas is ignited and the work ends, as it were, openly.
