'Mancare, oh Dio, mi sento', from Giacomelli's setting of Adriano in Siria (1733) is both the finest aria on the CD an also much the most developed. It is an aria also admirably suited to the considerable talents of Flavio Ferri-Benedetti, a singer not only gifted with a voice a considerable beauty, but also of a musical intelligence that allows him to capture with perfect sense bith the musical and literary syntax of the aria's agonized opening lines.
