Wolfgang Amadeus must have been immensely bored in dull Salzburg! How fortunate that his ambitious father always provided for variety: on extensive concert tours, the brilliant son was presented at courts and salons, and he used his absence from the prince-bishop's court to soak up all kinds of impressions and put them into his own music. Thus, on his travels to Italy and imperial Vienna, he composed the thirteen string quartets of which the Leipzig String Quartet has now recorded the second volume - continuation guaranteed!
